Firstly, this is a purely amateur weather site. The equipment used is certainly not of professional quality and although I believe the reported results to be fairly accurate, you should not base any weather reliant decisions on them.
Secondly, the picture in the title above doesn’t show the location of the weather station. It is a picture I took a few years ago, and I just thought it would look good on the title. It is close though, within a hundred yards… The weather station itself is a NG96GY (stock image shown) which I got from Maplin (but now seems to be discontinued) and the data is collected and processed on a Raspberry Pi by the pywws software package with some changes made to the default report templates to suit my own needs. Once the weather data is in the format I want, it is automatically sent to this remotely hosted web server. This site is built by myself using PHP and dynamically loads the latest data sent from the Pi. The graphs and gauges are produced using the Highcharts library. The weather station only started operating fully in mid July 2017, so there is no weather data before then available. |
